Acne vulgaris is a common inflammatory condition in adolescents and adults, frequently
associated with excessive skin oiliness, characterized by sebum accumulation and pore
obstruction. Given this condition, different therapeutic approaches have been used to help
control oiliness and reduce the inflammatory process, with a growing interest in the use of
plants in traditional medicine and cosmetics due to the presence of bioactive compounds with
therapeutic properties for the skin. This study aimed to develop a liquid facial soap based on
plant-based raw materials of juazeiro (Ziziphus joazeiro Mart.) and green tea (Camellia
sinensis), intended for oily and acne-prone skin, evaluating its stability and physicochemical
characteristics. To this end, the cosmetic formulation was designed, organoleptic
characterization was performed, and physicochemical parameters and stability were evaluated
through laboratory analyses. In this process, the tree bark was dried at room temperature until
a constant weight was reached and subsequently macerated to obtain the extract, along with
commercial green tea extract. Both were incorporated into a cosmetic base composed of
surfactants, a thickening agent, and a humectant. The results demonstrated the stability of the
formulation, without significant alterations in the evaluated parameters, presenting a pH
compatible with the skin, good foam formation, and a homogeneous appearance, showing
potential for the care and cleansing of oily and acne-prone skin. It is concluded that the use of
plant-based raw materials represents a natural, effective, and sustainable alternative for this
condition.
