Glycerol is of special benefit because it is manufactured in abundance, as a co-product
during the manufacture of biodiesel through transesterification or esterification. One of
the ways to make use of glycerol in order to obtain derivatives by esterification with
greater added value is the use of enzymes lipases that have the ability to catalyze reactions
in both aqueous and organic media, where the water content is restricted. Therefore,
esterification is a chemical procedure for the acquisition of esters, obtaining the glycerol
monoacet, diacet and triacetate elaborated by the esterification of glycerol with carboxylic
acids with enzymatic catalysis. Therefore, in the present work, reactions were carried out
with the enzymes Thermomyces lanuginosus (TLL), Rhizomucor miehei (RML),
Candida antarctica type B (CALB) novozyme and free Amano lipase with the solvents
Hexane, Isooctane, Acetone and Tetrahydrofuran (THF). Through these results,
Novozyme immobilized reacted with acetone with a conversion of 78.42%, showing the
efficiency of catalysis of the enzyme lipase CALB Novozyme synthesizing esters. The
reactions of the solvents as a function of time showed high percentages. After 24 hours,
it reacted with acetone, showing a conversion of 78.42% and with 48 hours, with a
conversion of 37.93%, compared to the other solvents that did not react. it can be
concluded that the Novozyme immobilized enzyme and acetone were viable in the
esterification process to obtain esters. Therefore, esterification reactions are essential for
the synthesis of esters as a result of the great need for these compounds. Which have
potential for industrial and technological use through the use of enzymatic catalysts.
