This research analyzes the relationship between education and work in the community of Fazenda outeiro in the light of the trajectories of the uprooting process of rural subjects who return as educators at the Dr. José Targino, located in the city of Canguaretama/RN. At first, a bibliographic research of authors was used, such as Gramsci (1978); Caldart (2005); Hage (2011); Arroyo (2007); Frigotto and Ciavatta (2012) that bring reflections referring to the themes of study, such as rural education, work as an educational principle, teacher training and the uprooting of the subject from the field. In the second moment, an exploratory-descriptive approach was used, with the qualitative method for analysis. To achieve the objectives of the study, nonprobabilistic convenience sampling was used, in which people were selected according to the objectives established by the researcher. As for data collection and analysis instruments, a semi-structured interview script and content analysis were used. From the results, it was observed that the roots that made the branches grow and bear fruit in the trajectory of these educators were not well watered for the necessary to grow, but that they can be overcome and rescued in order to generate the appropriation of these subjects through knowledge. academic and not the other way around.
