O desejo de retornar aos estudos na visão de mulheres adultas do sítio Areia Branca. em Canguaretama/RN
Resumo
Many adults, including women and men, in rural communities still lack basic schooling, given the high rates of illiteracy and non-completion of primary and secondary education in rural areas in our country. Sitio Areia Branca, in Canguaretama/RN, is another example of this reality. Given this scenario, this article presents the results of a survey that sought to identify objectives and expectations that make adult women from Sitio Areia Branca want to return to their studies. For his,
an exploratory-descriptive field research was carried out, with a qualitative approach that used as a
data collection instrument a semi-structured interview applied in June 2022, in the community itself, with 5 non-literate adult women. The theoretical contribution of the study included authors such as
Caldart (2012), Barbosa and Santos (2021), among others, in addition to legal documents, such as Law 9.394/1996. The research results bring “strong” speeches, which show a deconstructed course
of schooling, crossed especially by working early and taking care of children (most cited reasons). The meanings they attribute to becoming literate also populate our results and elucidate the desire
for more dignified living conditions. Currently, they carry with them the desire to go back to school
and finally learn to read and write, but various reasons pointed out in the research still persist, the
lack of a school in the community being one of those that prevents them from fulfilling this desire.
