The web accessibility is a theme of great importance that has its place in treaties, conventions
and events held in Brazil and in the world. Accessibility on the web has guidelines,
regulations and legislation aimed at it, but it is noticeable that many websites and portals do
not comply with these documents, which may make them inaccessible to people with
disabilities. This work aimed to analyze 30 websites and portals divided into different
categories with three analysis tools - Total Validator, ASES and Access Monitor -, quantify
and calculate the results statistically, inform the degree of accessibility and propose advances
and improvements to make the web increasingly accessible. In the methodology, the sites
were selected and separated into six categories: public education institutions of Rio Grande do
Norte, e-commerce, airlines, Northeastern region newsletters, portals of federal institutions of
higher education of Distance Learning (EAD) Northeast and public and private banks. From
the tests, the data were collected, quantified and statistically calculated. The Accessibility
Index calculation was also developed and applied considering the errors found and the
accessibility items required by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and eGovernment Accessibility Model (e-MAG) . In the results obtained it was noticed that none of
the sites were in compliance with the requirements of the regulatory documents. This can lead
to barriers and access difficulties for people who have limitations and need the assistance of
assistive technologies or resources present on the sites. It has also been realized that the tools
have limitations and that their results may not be totally reliable.
