This research seeks to present how the concept of antimatter emerged, some of its applications and suggest a teaching proposal to be used in high school. Initially, a brief review of the content of antimatter is presented, in which we talk about the origin of the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations, the latter of which predicted the existence of antiparticles. To support the preparation of the teaching proposal, a quantitative and qualitative survey was carried out among Physics teachers and students in the city of Santa Cruz/RN about the presence of this topic in Physics classes. The results showed that this topic is rarely studied in high school, but that there is great interest in its inclusion in Physics classes. Thus, we suggest a didactic proposal, divided into 5 moments, based on David Ausubel's theory of meaningful learning, for presenting the topic of antimatter in High School Physics classes, using mental maps.
