The frequent changes that occur in educational field give rise to challenges in
teaching within the classroom. In this scenario, it is necessary for teachers to
reinvent themselves in order to seek support in the digital tools that best fit the
teaching and learning process. In the pedagogical context, the use of active
methodologies awakens in students the search for knowledge in an active and
participatory way, for example, through the use of the Wordwal platform that serves
to create interactive, personalized and gamified activities l. Given the above, the
general objective of this work is to evaluate the use of the Wordwall platform as a
pedagogical tool to assist in the learning of Genetics content in high school. The
methodology started with the application of a previous questionnaire on the content
of genetics to identify the students' level of knowledge, and then Wordwall platform
games were applied. Subsequently, the same questionnaire was applied to verify
whether the platform helped students in their learning. The average of correct
answers of the participating students regarding the questionnaire prior to the games
was 69% and the percentage of correct answers after applying the games increased
by 11.8%, reaching the value of 80.8% of correct answers, considered an excellent
level of success. learning. Most students (93.5%) evaluated the methodology used
as “very good” and 6.5% evaluated it as “good”. The results obtained showed
benefits regarding the use of the platform as a didactic resource, as well as the
majority of students reported that the platform is important to help with genetics
content. Therefore, it is a fact that the use of the platform is of great relevance for the
teaching and learning of subjects considered difficult, as is the case with genetics
content.
