Introduced in Brazil by immigrants from Italy, the arugula is still quite appreciated
and its greatest consumption is concentrated in the Southeast and South regions of the
country. In the State of Rio Grande do Norte, consumption and cultivation of arugula culture
is low, as well as technologies on production factors, such as spacing and adequate planting
density, which are limiting. Therefore, a test was carried out with the objective of quality of
arugula cultivated under different densities in an organic system in the Açu valley - RN, using
different spacing indicated for commercial seeds. The work was carried out in the
Experimental Garden Farm-School of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and
Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN - Campus Ipanguaçu), two (2) blocks with four
(4) treatments were randomly divided into of the blocks and having twelve (12) repetitions
per treatment in each block, containing a total experimental unit of 96 plants. The treatments
(T) used were (E1 - 0.10 m between rows and 0.05 m between plants; E2 - 0.15 m between
rows 0.05 m between plants; E3 - 0.20 m between rows and 0, 05 m between plants; E4 - 0.25
m between rows and 0.05 m between plants). Plant height, chlorophyll content, fresh and dry
shoot weight, planting density per hectare and productivity per m2 were evaluated. Therefore,
based on these variables, the spacing (0.10 x 0.05 m), despite being the most dense, is the
most suitable for organic arugula cultivation in the conditions of the Vale do Açu region
