In this thesis, we investigate the teaching of kinematics in high school. Our general objective is to analyze the teaching of kinematics in high school in state schools in the city of Caicó in Rio Grande do Norte. For this, we made a compilation of discussions related to kinematics, delimiting the last 3 decades as a period. Starting from the hypothesis that, even with several discussions and elaboration of pedagogical products over time, the teaching of kinematics still suffers from the same difficulties. To carry out this study, we opted for research with a qualitative approach, however, with the help of quantitative data in our discussions. Because it is a small sample group, our research is exploratory investigating the five state schools located in the city of Caicó, in Rio Grande do Norte, which are the State School Professora Calpúrnia Caldas de Amorim, State School Professor Antônio Aladim de Araújo, José Augusto Full Time State School, Padre Edmundo Kagerer State School. We used information collected from the following sources: literature review and interview, allowing the comparison of information. The literature review allowed us to observe that discussions regarding the teaching of kinematics are similar even over time. The literature points out the mathematical complexity for high school students when working with this content. We also found that for this content, a considerable time of the school year must be allocated. As a result, we observed that the difficulties of overcoming kinematics teaching remain even with the elaboration of proposals to face them, pointing to the need for greater preparation of students with regard to the study of functions and graphic interpretation, as well as of a more adequate elaboration of classes, with the use of these pedagogical products.
