This article brings as its theme the life trajectory of Youth and Adult Education teachers who
are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, covering their experiences and conflicts, discussing
how their gender identities impacted their lives in the most diverse social spheres. To make this
possible, semi-structured interviews of a qualitative nature were carried out, with a transsexual
teacher and a drag queen teacher, active in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) of the State
Education Network of Rio Grande do Norte – Brazil, using the methodology of
autobiographical narratives or life stories. The results show the pattern that crossed the lives of
the interviewees, pointing out that LGBTQIA+ teachers are constantly targets of prejudice,
especially within the school institution, making it clear that, in addition to not being prepared
to embrace diversity in its scope, the schools has not prepared the community in which it is
inserted to do so.
