This study is a result of a research about the socio-historical-cultural evolution and the didactic-pedagogical potential of the guitar in order to teaching Physics, with the view to group, in general, elements that can contribute to the construction of a proposal of approach that facilitates the teaching-learning process, as well as, stimulates the interest of the students in the subjects of waves/acoustics. Likewise, it makes a succinct analysis of the origin, evolution and cultural influence of the referred musical instrument, with the purpose of demonstrating its didactic-pedagogical potential for teaching the subject. It is a bibliographic research and it has an exploratory nature, whose results showed that the guitar contributed to the development of culture, as well as, pointed out some physical aspects of the parts of the instrument and its manufacture, which are related to the subjects of Physics on waves/acoustics, in order to collaborate with meaningful learning.
