This work shows how it is possible to develop, with high school students, experiments that involve the foundations of Modern and Contemporary Physics, using accessible and easily acquired materials, focused on the Brazilian reality, through experimental workshops. These materials allow by means of an appropriate methodology, the execution of three particular experiments, which involved Planck's constant, the spectroscopy and the diffraction of light. Seeking to understand and understand these events, which supported modern and contemporary physics in the early twentieth century. Since their understanding is seen as a necessity to understand the phenomena related to situations lived by the students is of natural or technological origin, enabling them, a wide panorama of how great thinkers of the beginning of this century, have managed to revolutionize the modern world. In addition, students will be able to improve their motor and cognitive skills in the practical classes described in this academic production, participating directly, assembling, measuring, constructing, and elaborating reports, analyzing the data obtained. Acquiring through the teacher, a conceptual and historical basis on each theme proposed. It can also in this way, express their opinions to improve the tests performed, making them more participatory and active in class.
