The increasing demand for water resources and the challenges posed by climate change require innovative solutions for sustainable water management, especially in agriculture, which accounts for approximately 70% of global freshwater consumption. In this context, this study presents the development of an automated irrigation system based on the Internet of Things (IoT), using the BitDogLab board with Raspberry Pi Pico W. The system monitors real-time variables such as temperature and soil moisture (simulated via algorithm), triggering a water pump according to detected hydric needs. The solution integrates sensors, Wi-Fi communication with the ThingSpeak platform for remote data storage and visualization, and visual/sonorous user feedback. The methodology included requirements analysis, modular development in C language, unit and integration tests, and GitHub documentation. with potential to reduce water waste. Key contributions include the application of software engineering best practices and the use of low-cost hardware, bridging technology and sustainability. It is concluded that the project achieved its objectives, resulting in a viable solution that highlights the potential of accessible IoT technologies for agricultural automation and water management, serving as a foundation for future implementations with real sensors and on a larger scale.
