Memórias e varzeanidades – analisando aspectos e impactos sociambientais dos corpos d'água no Município de Várzea/RN

Abstract

Water, in addition to being a natural asset, is essential for survival on earth, so water bodies stand out as a medium susceptible to physical, social and economic progress, where human beings perform relationships and create meanings. from these. Thus, the following work shows the relevance of water bodies in the urban-environmental context, especially for farmers in the city of Várzea – RN in areas close to the middle (river/stream). The general objective is to analyze the water bodies as a natural, social and environmental heritage of the population in the city of Várzea/RN from memory and identity. As methodological procedures, it has a descriptive character, where bibliographic and documentary research, ethnographic method and field research were used, as well as photographic records, interviews with people who live or have lived in the study area and site visits, which made it possible to understand the meaning and description of the phenomenon studied from memories and identity, it was found that there are environmental problems, because there is no single nomenclature for the river, dissatisfaction, and lack of public policies. It is believed that this work can contribute to the valorization of the water body and solutions to environmental problems, the loss of identity and to present the population with relevance to the culture of the city.
