Análise de usabilidade do portal do IFRN com docentes e discentes do campus Pau dos Ferros, utilizando de heurísticas de Nielsen

Abstract

We currently live in a global information society, where its main means of influence live from communication, knowledge, and digitalization, in this context organizational as well as institutional websites arise. Therefore, in view of this new scenario, the concern with the usability of institutional websites has become increasingly present within software development teams. Thus, the present work aimed to analyze the usability of the Portal of the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte | Campus Pau dos Ferros (IFRN) from the point of view of Nielsen’s heuristics and the application of usability tests. To achieve this objective, two studies were developed. In the first one, the heuristics proposed by (NIELSEN, 1994) were used to evaluate the Portal. In the second study, the System Usability Scale – SUS model was used to identify the users’ perception of the website’s usability. In this study, users were given specific tasks to be performed on each system. From this, it was possible to visualize, in a numerical way, scores generated for users according to the SUS method, and the results obtained allowed classifying the usability of the interface of the evaluated website. Therefore, with the evaluation of Nielsen’s heuristics, it was possible to determine specific errors and with the usability test, it was possible to categorize the system through the average of the scores to obtain a comprehensive view of usability.
