In animal production, it is of fundamental importance the rational use of good
quality water. The water should be considered as an essential nutrient and when
the quality used in animal consumption is doubtful, this may interfere with the
performance indexes and the spread of diseases, causing serious economic
losses, and carry pathogenic agents of diseases of public health interest.
Objective with this research to diagnose the quality of water that is supplied for
watering of dairy cattle, sheep and poultry Farm-school IFRN, Campus Ipanguaçu.
The collected and analyzed data were taken every two weeks in the drinkers (6 of
cattle, 5 of sheep and 2 of birds) during the months of July to October of 2017. The
analyzed parameters were: temperature, pH, conductivity and total solids
dissolved; A water quality multiparameter probe was used to obtain this data. The
data obtained showed, in the majority of cases, values outside the parameters
acceptable by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005, in some drinkers presented
acceptable results. However, adequate water management (with constant
renewal) and drinking fountains are required not only in places that are easily
accessible to animals, but which may also be in places covered or aerated by
treetops.
