Abstract

The city of Macau is located on the coast of Rio Grande do Norte and fishing is an important socioeconomic activity that provides employment and income for a large portion of its population. In addition, it is awarded with a scientific technical center, the Federal Institute of Education, Sciences and Technology of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN) which offers courses: technician in fisheries resources and degree in biology that trains qualified labor and produces knowledge academic papers referring to the fishing production chain. Despite this, we have a population of fishermen with limited scientific technical knowledge about local fishing resources, whether due to lack of information in itself or because, when it is presented, it is expressed in a language that is difficult for artisanal fishermen to understand, because many did not have access to school training. In this context, we propose to create a page for the dissemination of data on the main species of fish in artisanal fisheries in the Macau/RN community on a social network, in this case Instagram, for dissemination in a simpler and more accessible language for the public. population, the choice of social network was based on a quantitative survey using the Google Forms application where we selected the social network that best suited the proposal, in this case Instagram. The disclosed information comes from a bibliographical research together with a local research with five fishermen on the fish species of the local fishing. The posts produced contain data such as: reproduction, food, economic interest, among others. The estimates of publications made by the public that viewed the page were quite positive, indicating that the objectives were achieved. With that, we have a product that can be used for local dissemination as well as for study and consultation, both for the community and for students of Fisheries Resources and biology, and can be used as a model for other areas and other taxa of the local flora and fauna.
