The present work is entitled “Who are we? For others,
what are we? A sensitive look at the youth of EJA at José
de Carvalho e Silva Municipal School ”. In the midst of the
reality of a class considered difficult by many, it is
necessary to know who these EJA subjects are and to
understand why these students are in school. What
causes some to behave in an “undisciplined” manner,
show a lack of interest in being in the classroom, if the
context seems to interfere with school participation, if
they have had choices over the course of whether their
lives, their interests and expectations. These are
questions that motivated us to investigate. Thus, the
objective of the study is to understand who are the
subjects of the EJA of the José de Carvalho e Silva
Municipal School, through a sensitive look. Using as a
basis, theorists who discuss students as subjects of rights,
such as Arroyo (2014; 2017) and official documents that
guarantee rights to young people, such as the Child and
Adolescent Statute and the Law of Guidelines and Bases
of National Education, the This research investigated a
class of the 3rd period of EJA Elementary School of that
school, located in the Center of Canguaretama / RN. It
used as methodological procedures the observation, the
questionnaire and the didactic intervention. In the
results, we highlight the subjects' view of themselves and
their trajectories, as well as the class teacher's view of
their students. In the final considerations, we raise brief
purposive reflections from the reality investigated,
because we believe that - through a sensitive eye -
understand, rethink and contribute to link these young
people to the teaching-learning process, encouraging
them in their permanence and continuity in their lives.
training process is possible and part of the school's role.
