Implementação do Repositório Institucional do IFRN

Abstract

A repository can be seen as a set of services to organize, preserve and publish the scientific production of an institution. The Institutional Repositories increase the range and influence of the work of the institution, as well as assist in the reform of the scholarly communication system, trying to regain control over academic publications developed by the institution, encouraging the free scientific publishing, going against the monopoly of scientific magazines. This project aims to implement an Institutional Repository so the scientific production of IFRN can be preserved and opened to the public. Therefore, we used the DSPACE platform, an open-source software that offers not only the necessary tools to implement the repository, as well as the ability to customize the platform for the needs of the institution. From a number of studies and surveys of the institution needs the team has developed a functional and stable service able to meet the institution's needs and forwards to the opening to the public. Together to the development of the service, was also created the design team of repository access policies, responsible for determining the permissions of use and organization of the site structure. With the implementation of the repository, it is expected an increase in the production and dissemination of academic and scientific papers developed by researchers group of IFRN, as the repository brings a new structure to facilitate dissemination, organization and search of the scientific production of all the institution.
