This study aims to understand the identity of the embroiderers of Caicó in Rio Grande do Norte and the continuity of this embroidery in the region, in addition to understanding whether it can be considered a handcrafted product, through a bibliographical analysis and a questionnaire applied through Google Forms sent via WhatsApp to the embroiderers of the region who are part of the Caicó Geographical Indication seal group. The interview revealed that the embroiderers are women between 30 and 50 years old who often depend on this craft financially and who value the transmission of knowledge, which was passed down within the family. In addition, it is possible to see that embroidery has the requirements to be considered handcrafted due to the importance of the embroiderer as a source of creation for the patterns applied to the fabric and the manual that is still applied, although the sewing machine is often used, characteristics of the regional tradition are still preserved.
