Efeito alelopático do extrato aquoso foliar de algaroba (Prosopis juliflora) sobre o crescimento de plantas de tiririca (Cyperus rotundus)
Resumo
Sedge is a harmful weed, with a high reproduction capacity and difficult to manage, being
very resistant and can develop in different climate and soil conditions, leading to great losses.
Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the allelopathic effect of the aqueous
leaf extract of mesquite (Prosopis juliflora) on the growth of nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus)
plants. The experiment was carried out from February to April 2022, conducted on an
agricultural property, located in Sítio Caraú, municipality of Itajá-RN. A completely
randomized experimental design (DIC) was used with 5 treatments and 4 replications, using
the following dosages of the aqueous extract of mesquite leaves and herbaceous branches:
0%, 25%, 50% and 100%. Each pot was considered an experimental plot, with substrate and 3
tubers. The attributes evaluated were: number of plants, number of leaves and plant height.
The data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance of means using the F test and the
Excel spreadsheet program was used to obtain the graphs. According to the results obtained
for the variables studied, under the circumstances of the experiment, it is possible to point out
that the samples that received the agaroba leaf extract showed changes in their development.
The results show that the extract caused an increase in the development of nutsedge plants and
in the number of plants and leaves.
