Biosafety is the application of knowledge, techniques and equipment aimed at preventing the
user's exposure to risks in the laboratory environment. Good Laboratory Practices are
fundamentals of biosafety, so they should be applied in all laboratories. The Federal Institute
of Education, Science and Technology Rio Grande do Norte – campus of CurraisNovos one
of the laboratories that can pose risks for students is the Food Microbiology and therefore it is
essential to implementation of Good Laboratory Practice. For verification and listing of shares
used in this laboratory environment was carried out questionnaires about the issue at hand.
The results were that some BPLs are actually applied, many important practices are merely
overlooked by the students.
