A sustentabilidade na hotelaria e o turismo no município de Tibau do Sul : um análise das práticas de sustentabilidade adotadas nos meios de hospedagem associados ao movimento preserve pipa

Abstract

The discussions about sustainability in tourism have been constantly increasing in the last years due to the negative environmental impacts. This concern is related to the exploitation of tourism on natural resources and the impacts on the receiving communities. Due to these negative consequences and the growing pressure from environmental movements, hoteliers have sought to pay special attention to the awareness of adopting environmentally correct practices in their lodging facilities, seeking to create a sustainable culture within their enterprises. In this sense, this study proposes an analysis of the sustainability of the lodging facilities associated with the Preserve Pipa movement. To this end, in data collection, the use of a questionnaire, applied to hotel owners, provided information about the sustainability practices adopted in the lodging facilities to reduce impacts on the environment, seeking to diagnose, understand and know the sustainability practices. Furthermore, the socio-environmental perception of representatives of the government and of ASHTEP-Preserve Pipa regarding the impacts of tourism on the environment was investigated. As a result, the information collected was used as the basis for preparing a guide booklet on good sustainability practices in lodging facilities.
