Brazil has different types of climate, as the semi-arid region suffers from short rainy periods and drought, and water shortages occur. In this reality one finds the cities make up the Valley of Açu-RN. This work was carried out with the objective of analyzing the pluviometric data from the period 1998-2017 in six municipalities representative of the region of the Açu Valley. Rainfall data were collected from the cities: Jucurutu, São Rafael, Assú, Ipanguaçu, Carnaubais and Pendências, which make up the Vale, made available by the Emparn (Embra- nian Agricultural Research Company of Rio Grande do Norte) and Emater-RN. Graphs were constructed with mean precipitations of the period studied using Excel 2016, using multivariate statistical analysis methods with STATISTICA software, version 7.0. The results showed that the precipitations were unevenly distributed between the years and counties evaluated. In addition, half the years studied were considered as dry or very dry years. It is concluded that the characterization of precipitation in the region from a historical average can be faulty due to the high standard deviation and coefficient of variation observed between the studied pluviosities, it is observed in the region that the rains are concentrated between the months of January to June, highlighting March and April as the rainy May months.
