Turismo e produção imobiliária : análise das implicações socioculturais e políticas para o distrito de Sibaúma (Tibau do Sul/RN)

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the implications of real estate production for tourism in the District of Sibaúma, located in Tibau do Sul/RN, considering the socio-cultural and political aspects, in addition to characterizing the tourist activity and real estate activity of the referred local. In the Northeast of Brazil, the phenomenon intensified with the consolidation of the actions foreseen in PRODETUR / NE and the increase in the international flow of tourists in the region. The research is exploratory-descriptive, with qualitative treatment of the data, whose collection procedures took place through the systematic observation in loco of real estate enterprises and individual semi-structured interviews applied to community leaders, on which content analysis was carried out. From the moment that the real estate-tourism activity settles in the district, conflicts begin to arise that have had negative effects on the political and sociocultural organization of the community. It was observed that the leaders of Sibaúma do not keeps a positive eyesight of real estate production related to tourism and leisure in their community; finding attributed to the loss of land and/or the sale of land at prices below the market to buyers called “those outside”. From the negative effects observed, it can be considered that the question of land titling stands out, because it was something that divided the community into: those who wanted and those who did not want the titling of quilombola lands.
