This work is an integrating Project of the Technical Course in Clothing at the IFRN Campus Caicó. In the state of Rio Grande do Norte, more precisely in the Seridó region, textile activities are sources of income and employment, from branches that operate in the production of raw materials to clothing. However, the difficulty of obtaining information regarding this segment in small towns is notorious. Thus, there was a search for bibliographic information about the city of Serra Negra do Norte-RN, aimed at understanding the extent and performance of the textile area, starting from the correlation of geographical bases such as geographic space, economic activity and population. The objective that guided the project is the relationship between the information belonging to the textile sector and the socioeconomic character, having as a characteristic the population perception of these areas. We sought to facilitate access to information, which guides the emergence and functioning of the textile activity in that location, in order to assist the implementation of new ventures, as well as government actions aimed at the local economy. The choice of the city of Serra Negra do Norte-RN as a field of study, occurred because it is one of the three largest producers of caps in Seridó. Thus, in view of the strong influence of the performance of the clothing accessory industries, especially the cap, we sought to research about the performance of other clothing manufacturing companies in the city, which were sought, but the contact was not made . The structuring of the work consists of the introduction, justification, general and specific objectives, methodology, theoretical foundation and, after that, it discusses issues of the locality, taking into account the textile and geographic area. It ended with the presentation of the results compiled from the application of a digital questionnaire containing the main subjects addressed, such as geographic space, economy, population and textile / clothing area, disseminated on digitals networks, to the research subjects, in this case, the population. In the end, it was understood that the city has significant potential for growth in this segment and a large part of the interviewees considered it a job opportunity, as well as an income for local families.
