This study aimed to analyze the correlation between the residents' support for tourism development and their antecedents in the indigenous and quilombo communities of Catú dos Eleotérios, Sagi Trabanda and Sibaúma, located in the muncipes of Canguaretama, Goianinha and Tibau do Sul. The present study is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with a quantitative analytical approach, of the cross - sectional survey type. The sample was performed by method for convenience and the choice of subject by means of the simple random method. The instrument used for data collection was a metric scale form of 11 points, where [0] indicated total disagreement on a given variable and [10] the full agreement. The data were collected during the period from 01/27/2017 to 03/31/2017, with a total of 200 valid questionnaires. The data analysis process was performed using the Statistical Package for Social Science software (SPSS 22.0), where descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, factorial exploratory analysis and t-test for independent samples were used. From the results, Pearson's correlation analysis corroborated correlations between the dimensions explored and the support of respondents to local tourism, both negative and positive. Also identified by the cluster analysis were two subgroups classified as "Moderate supporters" and "Enthusiastic supporters", statistical tests and data analysis procedures confirmed divergent perceptions of these clusters on the variables explored and their respective dimensions.
