As ondas eletromagnéticas e o impacto na saúde humana: uma análise do julgamento do Supremo Tribunal Federal sobre recurso extraordinário interposto por companhia de eletricidade do Estado de São Paulo

Abstract

The proliferation of various electronics and communication media has made electromagnetic fields ubiquitous in human lives. However, any excess human activity involves risks of environmental impacts and damages to health. Based on bibliographical and jurisprudential research, this article deals with the influences of electromagnetic pollution on human health and analyzes a case judged in the Federal Supreme Court. Concludes that although there are still doubts about the negative impacts by electromagnetic pollution on human health, it must be respect the precautionary principle in constitutional law enshrined in the Brazilian regulatory standards and the recommendations proposed by World Health Organization.
