Taking into account the growing population and industrial demand for drinking water, it has a greater number of Water Treatment Stations. It is justified the present article that has as general objective to elaborate a characterization of the residues from the water of washing of the filters in ETA of direct filtration, located in the municipality of Extremoz-RN. In the methodology, the parameters were chosen, soon after, the samples were collected to analyze them in the Laboratory of Sanitation of the IFRN. The samples were divided into: raw water, filter wash water and the clarified effluent and the second part were washing water from the filters in the time interval from zero to five minutes. The data then went through a statistical study (mean, minimum, maximum, standard deviation, correlation and analysis of variance), where the clarified effluent presented better results than the raw water, making it clear that it can be reused within the station, avoiding waste. The wash water from the filters contains coagulants, solids remaining from the sedimentation process and ends up having the worst results compared to the other two samples. The parameters used in the wash water obtained the highest correlation with each other. About the period of washing of the filters, the ALF-1 is the minute, where the maximum removal of the solids occurs, being the best washing time. Through the analysis of variance, we conclude that the final two minutes of the wash can be discarded.
