The present work was carried out with the students and the Geography teacher of the 2nd year high school classes in the afternoon period of the State School Professor Antônio Pinto de Medeiros, located in the district of Pitimbu in the municipality of Natal/RN. Considering the aspects of teaching learning in Geography, the general objective of this work is to analyze how the teacher seeks to establish connections between the curricular contents and the aspects experienced by his or her student body taking as evidenced the relations established with the place in which they live. In addition, we try to understand if it characterizes the methodologies used by the said teacher during the approach of the didactic contents, as well as the reflexes of that process with respect to the usefulness of the learning obtained by the students in their day to day. In order to reach such objectives, in addition to bibliographical research in books, dissertations and theses, the analysis of data collected from observations assessed in the classes was carried out, as well as the information obtained from the questionnaires applied to both the students and the teacher of Geography. The results show that the teacher uses several mechanisms to try to dynamize and seek greater participation of students in the subjects worked in the classroom. For this, the constant use of varied didactic resources allows the student to have a diversity of techniques that stimulate the interest in apprehending the subjects treated. Another important point was the teacher's attitude in always seeking to relate the subjects of Geography with elements experienced by his students in his daily life. This practice was verified and exemplified by the students themselves, since at different times they came to question examples of how the teacher uses these teaching practices.
