The purpose of this work is to present an analysis about the inclusion and permanence of the students who had access through the public policies of the quota system in the Degree Course in Mathematics in the Santa Cruz Campus of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRN), this social inclusion is guaranteed by Law No. 12.711 / 12. The purpose of this study is to show how the institution follows the legislation ensuring inclusion, as well as examining the permanence of the students who were favored by this inclusive process. The methodology used is inserted in the field of qualitative and quantitative studies, resorting to the examination of official documents and their appreciation. The above mentioned course in its selective processes, offer 40 vacancies annually, after the above mentioned legislation, it has been that, 20 of these vacancies were defined for candidates from the Public School, of which, 10 vacancies are destined for the candidates who come from families with Income equal to or less than 1.5 minimum wage per capita. In this study we evaluated the admission classes from 2013 to 2016, and we observed that all started with the percentage of 25% of the students coming from the quota system, and currently among the students enrolled in the classes the percentage increased to 31.04% Students, considering all the difficulties of higher education. It is also important to explain that the institution develops actions in line with other public policies in order to remain in the classroom, enabling them to carry out teaching, research and extension activities. We can affirm that inclusive policies have satisfactory results, but not alone, because, making access possible can not be the only action to guarantee permanence, the inclusion mechanisms of students in Higher Education are very important and must be followed by actions of these to To stay successful.
