Quantificação e separação de resíduos orgânicos em feiras livres nos municípios de Pedro Velho e Goianinha

Abstract

The study "Quantification and Separation of Organic Waste in Open Markets in the Municipalities of Pedro Velho and Goianinha" addresses the management and reuse of organic waste generated in open markets. Motivated by the significant increase in organic waste production, which pollutes and damages the urban landscape, the research aimed to characterize and quantify the main organic waste produced at five market stalls in Goianinha and Pedro Velho over four weeks. Another objective of this study was to explore sustainable solutions to reduce the negative environmental impacts and promote the rational use of organic waste. Among the main types of waste identified were green bean husks, tomatoes, and guavas. It was observed that the quantities and types of waste varied throughout the year. Additionally, green bean husks were the most predominant among the collected organic waste.
