This study aims to propose a technical analysis of the operational performance of
photovoltaic power generation systems installed at the campuses of the Federal Institute of Rio
Grande do Norte (IFRN). The goal is to deliver a Technical Manual for Inspection and
Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems for these plants. The basic premise is to provide a
diagnosis, considering each campus's specifics, by comparing the actual annual power
generation from each photovoltaic plant (using data from the monitoring systems and inverters)
with simulated results using the PVsyst software. Throughout the study, we address aspects
related to energy consumption evaluation from an energy efficiency perspective and detailed
analysis of the design and specification of the main components, devices, and accessories used
in the photovoltaic generation plants. These include photovoltaic modules, control and
protection devices, electrical conductors, conduits, grounding, and various subsystems. The
research is grounded in technical standards and the guidelines provided by equipment
manufacturers and utility companies for grid-tie systems. The multidisciplinary nature of the
study is emphasized, encompassing solar photovoltaics, energy efficiency, and low-voltage
electrical installations. The methodology includes generating informative graphs from 2016 to
2022, performing simulations, and creating non-compliance reports. These will serve as a basis
for developing the Technical Manual for Inspection and Maintenance of Photovoltaic
Systems, ensuring maximum energy production in line with the campus descriptive reports.
This study can be classified as applied research.
