This research aimed to diagnose environmentally the rural properties, minifundios and small properties, of passage-RN. As subjects of the research, owners of the 14 partners at risk participated, being 11 minifundios and 3 small properties. The methodology involved a literary and documentary review; field research for data collection; interviews, photographic meetings, surface water sampling, soil sampling, and local, participant and non-participant observation for the primary data collection. The results of the research identified the rural activities of the family agriculture in the surroundings of Rio Jacu, a municipality of passage, practiced in municipalities and small rural properties, in a context of long periods of drought, contributing to the implementation of erosion and sedimentation, interference with local fauna, reduction of soil productive capacity, and increased contamination of surface waters. Impact is one effect effect of the cultures of fellows, failed of mistakes and, consequently, commitment of improvement of the life of the families, seen of the own inheritance having to be compromised. There was also an eminent access to public subsidies such as rural retirement and family grants. It is concluded that the environmental diagnosis is a fundamental tool for the knowledge about the conduct and local anthropic interferences, on environmental, economic and social issues, in the man-nature direction. It is hoped to contribute to improving the lives of rural residents and to a public and private management of the natural risks of minimizing diagnosed problems and the sustainable use of natural resources.
