The water quality is very important to mining flotation. Chemical species dissolved in water
compete with ion collector to particle surface. This competition can bring results that undertake in
negative way to flotation efficiency. This paper aims to study the water quality to kaolin flotation in
Equador county, at Rio Grande do Norte. Initially was realized physico-chemical analysis in water
and after treatment by dissolved air flotation to remove contaminants. Flotation tests was realized
at dissolved air flotation to aim the best removal contaminants. The results of water analysis showed
high levels of dissolved salts, 5210µS/cm of electrical conductivity and 955,50 mg/L CaCO3 total
hardness; 127, 3 mg/L Ca+2 calcium hardness and 155,08 mg/L Mg+2 magnesium hardness. The pH
