This essay’s aims to point out the contribution of Edgar Morin’s thought on the construction of a vision of the world that contributes to contemporary environmental issues, and that starts from the formulation of a new paradigm - the complexity theory - contrary to the cartesian rationalism, until then hegemonic in the science. The methodology used was the bibliographic review from the works of the authors renowned, among which are Edgar Morin, Fritjof Capra, Enrique Leff, Denise Cristine Campos Silva e Anthony Giddens, which was provided through a qualitative and comparative study in order to emphasize the contribution of the same to the issues that affect the planetary environment today. Thus, this project brings new reflections on the role of society in relation to themselves and the environment, making a transdisciplinary and modern study.
