The demographic growth driving the urbanization process and the increased construction &#13;
density, combined with global warming, have contributed to a higher consumption of electrical &#13;
energy. In this context, scenarios where the most used energy source for electricity production &#13;
still comes from fossil and non-renewable sources such as oil, coal, and natural gas tend to &#13;
generate significant environmental impacts. These issues have promoted a global trend of &#13;
energy efficiency labeling in buildings. In Brazil, a significant contribution to this topic was the &#13;
emergence of the Brazilian Building Labeling Program (PBE Edifica). The thermal &#13;
performance of buildings is directly related to the sustainable consumption of energy to &#13;
maintain the internal environment in a way that promotes the thermal comfort of building users. &#13;
Building Information Modeling (BIM) allows for the modeling of existing buildings (As Built &#13;
project) and the use of the model for thermal analysis. In this sense, the research aims to study &#13;
the contribution of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in energy analysis for existing &#13;
buildings, aligned with the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7) targets 7.3 and &#13;
7a, and SDG 11. The method applied for the research development was bibliographic research, &#13;
and its operationalization was structured in the following steps: a) exploratory study (RSL and &#13;
literature review); b) experimental solution based on theory and prior knowledge (proposing a &#13;
process map and developing a manual). At the end of the research, the goal is to develop a &#13;
technical and technological product (PTT) in the form of a manual, aimed at professionals in &#13;
the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) field. The main objective of the manual &#13;
is to guide these professionals in the use of BIM for thermal analysis in existing buildings.

Coastal areas have been the target of intense human occupation and economic activity. In&#13;
Brazil, this situation is even more pronounced, as most large cities are located near the coast,&#13;
placing significant pressure on these areas, particularly from economic and leisure activities.&#13;
However, these areas are home to complex and vulnerable natural ecosystems, requiring&#13;
constant attention from public management regarding their use and occupation. In Natal, the&#13;
coastline corresponding to Environmental Protection Zone 07 (ZPA 07) is a prime example of&#13;
these conflicts, as it encompasses fragile ecosystems, Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs),&#13;
and historical and cultural heritage sites, such as Forte dos Reis Magos. Furthermore, it&#13;
concentrates significant economic activities, which require management strategies capable of&#13;
reconciling the area's differences with environmental preservation. In this context, this&#13;
research aims to analyze the perceptions and expectations of a group of traders operating in&#13;
the area, in light of current legal regulations, in order to support participatory planning&#13;
processes for the sustainable management of this space. To achieve its objective, the research&#13;
adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach, through semi-structured interviews conducted&#13;
between July and August 2025 (n=13). The data obtained were processed using descriptive&#13;
statistics and content analysis, complemented by a technical-legal analysis of the applicable&#13;
urban and environmental legislation. The results highlighted: (i) insufficient and, in some&#13;
aspects, absent infrastructure and public services, requiring various types of investment and&#13;
improvements; (ii) irregular occupation of APP areas, indicating the need to relocate existing&#13;
activities to suitable areas; (iii) social and economic vulnerability of traders; (iv) low&#13;
familiarity of the interviewees with the conceptual and legal conditions related to occupation&#13;
of the ZPA/restinga; (v) willingness of traders to adhere to planning actions in the area; (vi) a&#13;
lack of dialogue between public administration and the local population, highlighting the need&#13;
to implement ongoing mechanisms for social participation. Based on these findings and&#13;
guided by legal constraints, the research formulates an Integrative Scenario that seeks to&#13;
reconcile the economic use of the ZPA 07 waterfront with the area's environmental&#13;
preservation, within a context of participatory management that promotes legal certainty and&#13;
social justice. The conclusion is that a just transition is possible that reconciles environmental&#13;
protection and the maintenance of local economic activity, providing concrete support for&#13;
public decision-making regarding the development of Natal's waterfront.

<description>“Comunicação democrática”: uma ferramenta para a mediação de conflitos socioambientais na indústria de energias renováveis
Energy production, energy supply, and consumption are fundamental components&#13;
of modern human society. Energy serves as the material foundation for&#13;
socioeconomic and technological development, facilitating comfort, safety, and&#13;
well-being. Conversely, the energy market exerts detrimental effects on the natural&#13;
environment, particularly concerning greenhouse gas emissions resulting from&#13;
human activities such as the combustion of fossil fuels, which is among the largest&#13;
contributors to global climate change. Furthermore, these activities are linked to air&#13;
pollution, ecosystem degradation, and various social conflicts associated with the&#13;
exploitation of natural resources. In light of this cenarium, renewable energy&#13;
sources are increasingly recognized as vital components of the solution to mitigate&#13;
these adverse impacts, offering sustainable and low-carbon alternatives. The&#13;
massive development of renewable energy can play a significant role in the&#13;
decarbonization of the energy matrix and signifies a transition to an economic&#13;
model that aligns with global climate commitments. This commitment is&#13;
particularly salient in Rio Grande do Norte (RN), which has established itself as a&#13;
prominent player in the global renewable energy landscape, especially in wind&#13;
energy production. Currently, RN functions as a hub for wind energy in Brazil,&#13;
housing 304 operational wind farms (28% of the national total) with an installed&#13;
capacity of 10 GW, accounting for 32% of the nation's total capacity. This situation&#13;
necessitates heightened attention to the socioeconomic and environmental&#13;
developments arising from the dynamics of this market. These data prompt critical&#13;
discourse regarding the challenges associated with wind energy and the&#13;
environmental, social, and economic pillars of sustainability in RN. This study aims&#13;
to elucidate the socio-environmental implications of expanding wind energy&#13;
projects in RN and aims to illustrate how the application of communication tools&#13;
can mitigate socio-environmental conflicts linked to these initiatives. Here, we will&#13;
investigate the reverberations of the expansion of wind energy projects within the&#13;
socio-environmental domain, with a particular focus on the impact of trust and&#13;
transparent communication with local communities through questionary. The&#13;
methodology will employ a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and&#13;
qualitative research alongside a case study developed in the potiguar cities Rio do&#13;
Fogo, Guamaré, Parazinho e Galinhos and also content analysis of relevant&#13;
scientific literature. We anticipate that implementing mechanisms for public&#13;
participation, active communication, and public mediation, in conjunction with&#13;
enhanced transparency from wind energy companies, will foster greater&#13;
understanding of land use and aid in mitigating potential socio-environmental&#13;
impacts. This approach aims to enhance dialogue among policymakers,&#13;
decision-makers, and various stakeholders, while cultivating an environment of&#13;
trust and cooperation—essential components for the successful implementation of&#13;
renewable energy projects and the sustainable development of affected&#13;
communities.
