In this paper, a new variant of the metaheuristic inspired by echolocation of bats is presented. The proposed variant is the result of the combination between the original Bat Algorithm (BA) and a modification in the Michalewicz mutation operator. To evaluate the performance of this new variant, it was compared to the original BA and a variant of the literature named Modified BA (MBA). The computational experiments were performed with 30 independent runs to optimize six benchmark functions.
