This dissertation aims to analyze the profile of professionals who work in the teaching of the Specialization Course in Continuing Education in Health, developed at the Rio Grande do Norte School of Public Health (ESPRN), considering their formative path and the historicity of Professional Education in Health. The methodological path chosen to achieve this goal was followed in two stages: bibliographic review and semi-structured interview, as well as data and document survey in the studied locus. The results of the bibliographic research show gaps in the publication of works developed about the professionals who work in teaching and their pedagogical training, due to the little visibility to these workers throughout the history of Professional Health Education in Brazil. In this way, the contribution of the Technical Schools of the Unified Health System (ETSUS) stands out in this research, here in RN represented by the Public Health School of RN (ESPRN) as a space of recognition and identification of these professionals who contribute to the training of SUS workers. As for the results of the interviews with professors of the Specialization course in Continuing Education in Health, we present in this dissertation their profiles, training and need for new knowledge so that the ETSUS, and consequently the ESPRN, consider and enable in their formative processes, the strengthening for the professionals who work or will work in the teaching staff of the school. The limited locus and actors of the study is justified by the fact that the school is newly created and has its first specialization course under development. The documented information gathered indicates that the ESPRN inherits a history of contributions to the strengthening of Professional Health Education, from the monitoring and training of the workforce of middle and elementary level workers working in the Unified Health System. Thus, as a public institution and recently created to serve also the upper-level workers, the ESPRN contributes to the process of recognition and professional training of all workers who are inserted in the Unified Health System and helps in the strengthening of public health in Rio Grande do Norte. Therefore, it is concluded that it is necessary to evaluate and meet the pedagogical training needs of the professionals who work in the teaching of the school, so that they have pedagogical and methodological supports that support the diversities found in the scenarios of health services, as well as autonomy in the development of courses offered to workers, so that these professionals can raise and strengthen the actions of continuing education in health to workers, with safety and monitoring.
