This research is part of the field of Professional Education (PE) studies, focusing
on the production of knowledge about professional training in Sport and Leisure.
The study aimed to evaluate and compare the professional training policies of
the Higher Technology Courses in the area of Sports and Leisure Management
at the Federal Institutes of Brazil, adopting the triangulation of procedures as a
methodological path. The qualitative investigation, of the descriptive type,
articulates the methodology of the Evaluation of Public Policies as Scientific
Research, the Documental Analysis and the method of Comparative Education
as a procedural combination for its development. In its unfolding, having the
Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE) of Rio
Grande do Norte (IFRN) and Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) as the locus of analysis,
the investigation also sought to understand the contexts that influenced the
pedagogical choices of the course in each proposed reality. The results show
that in the scenario of the Institutes, little was observed regarding the existing
divergences between the objectives of the course. The main differences lie in
the decisions taken by the structuring centers of each course, based on current
educational legislation, such as decision-making on the structure of curricular
components, the mandatory or flexible nature of extracurricular components and
the formatting of the workload for each activity. . The study also revealed that the
flexibility observed in the design of curricular choices allows the opening of gaps
regarding the relationship of courses with society. That is, in view of the nonmandatory curricular internship (IFCE, IFRN) of the course completion work
(IFCE) and complementary activities (IFRS), it is not clear, in the pedagogical
projects, how the relationships that could be built by along these premises, are
articulated to draw bridges between those who graduate and the sectors that will
be able to receive professionals. In the three institutes, the concern with training
professionals who transcend instrumental work was evident, recognizing a
performance that values autonomy and reflection on professional work from a
social, economic, political and cultural point of view. However, it is possible to
state that the development of this training is not yet consolidated. As has been
seen, there are several obstacles that face the transfer of this training proposal
to the world of work. Among them, the following stand out: the nature of the
formation of technologists, which makes social articulation difficult; the lack of a
solid professional identity and the need for guidelines that link Sports and Leisure
Management professionals to the mechanisms typical of trends in the field,
distancing themselves from the identity of other professions and assuming their
own personality.
