The research in question analyzes the complex fabric that comprises the teacher education process within the Specialization in Professional Education, in the distance education modality, offered by the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Rio Grande do Norte (Campus Natal Zona Leste). The study investigated the specificities of the curriculum, pedagogical foundations, and the formative perspective involved, as well as the conceptions of the specialization's management team and the Federal Institute regarding the education provided in the aforementioned postgraduate course. Rooted in a descriptive and interpretive method supported by a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were employed as the main data collection instrument. Furthermore, documentary research was conducted to gather relevant data sources about the specialization under discussion. Bibliographies, documents, and testimonies were systematized through Discursive Textual Analysis. This recursive movement allowed for the analysis of the produced data and the development of this thesis, which demonstrates how teacher education, in this specific context, revealed itself as an intricate process, intertwined with internal challenges and antagonisms. In this context, the metaphor of sewing represents the construction of a patchwork quilt, with subtle zigzag movements, oscillating between an emancipatory and a pragmatic formation. Teacher education in this particular context is permeated by the struggle between projects and is subject to different views and interests, reflecting the positions of various actors involved in this specialization.
