Radish (Raphanus Sativus L.) is a tuberous vegetable with a short cycle, generally propagated
through direct sowing. The objective of this research was to evaluate the viability of
agroecological production of radish, sown in trays and later transplanted to the field in Vale
do Açu. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of Ipanguaçu, from October to
November 2022, on the school farm of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and
Technology of Rio Grande do Norte. The cultivar used was Crimson Gigante, sowing took
place in trays and transplanting took place 13 days after sowing. The harvested radishes were
evaluated for: Number of total plants per m²; Total productivity; Number of commercial
plants; Percentage of commercial plants; Commercial productivity; Percentage of commercial
productivity; Radish diameter; Fresh aerial part mass; Average radish weight. The data were
subjected to descriptive statistics analysis. Total productivity per m² was 2,243.13 ± 139.59 g
and commercial productivity was 1,218.91 ± 119.19 g/m², which represented 54.3% of total
productivity. Under the conditions of the present study, seedling production was favorable for
most of the variables analyzed.
