Resumo
The effects promoted by green manuring on the chemical properties of the soil are quite variable, depending on factors such as: species used, biomass management, planting season, green manure cutting, soil residues, local conditions and interaction between these factors. In addition, it is important to evaluate different lettuce cultivars, aiming to obtain a cultivar more adapted to the conditions of local cultivation. This work was carried out in the Phytotechnics Sector of the IFRN - Ipanguaçu Campus, located in the municipality of Ipanguaçu - RN, under a randomized complete block design, in the subdivided plots scheme, with three repetitions. The treatments of the plots consisted of the pre-culture of Crotalaria Juncea, Pig Bean and Spontaneous Vegetation (control). In the subplots the treatments consisted of three cultivars of crisp lettuce (Solaris, SVR 2005 and Vera). The results indicated effect of the green manuring of pre-culture on the yield of the crisp lettuce. Green manuring was the most important factor and the pre-culture with Pig Bean provided the highest fresh mass of lettuce and higher productivity, regardless of the lettuce cultivar used. The average productivity of lettuce curled when using the Pig Bean in the green manure of pre-cultivation reached 24 t ha-1 , being higher in 38% the productivity obtained with the control treatment, when the area was fallow in the presence of spontaneous vegetation before lettuce. As they did not present significant statistical differences, all lettuce cultivars could be used in regions with similar characteristics to the location of this research.
