Historically, in the common sense, Physics has been restricted to being a specific discipline for memorizing formulas, performing calculations and doing enough to move forward in the school
years and in technical and technological training. Given this scenario, the use of experiments
based on prior knowledge that students may have pre-conceived to, from then on, introduce
new concepts and situations in which they can deepen what they already have as learning is a
effective way to change the perspective of what it is to study Physics. This work aims to develop
a proposal for an expository class that allows the relationship between the concepts of geometric
optics, more precisely, reflection, refraction and total internal reflection of light, with the use
of experiments and exposure of simple and everyday materials that makes teaching Physics
more enjoyable. In this way, the methodology used to form the proposal for an expository class
is based on the formulation of 2 meetings, each containing 2 classes of 45 minutes each. In
these classes, experiments built to reinforce the theoretical foundation will be used, namely: the
Tyndall bottle; demo panel of a fiber optic cable (compared with coaxial cable), and a basic
data-by-light circuit. The proposal brings physical concepts closer to the facts of the reality we
live in, boosting the students' cognitive capacity and reinforcing the importance of teaching.
