This paper, based on an expository documentary research, is dedicated to analyzing public policies for the development of education in the Borborema Potiguar / RN microregion and what are the results of these policies, in order to verify whether the IDEB target, established by Inep , reaching an average 6.0 by 2021, is being observed. The data analyzed were extracted from QEdu, Inep and IBGE, from 2011 to 2017, beginning and final years, related to the basic education of the microregion. Based on the data, verified and compared, it was noticed that the microregion, as well as the country, are facing difficulties in reaching the goals established in the final years.
