This study aims to work on the prime numbers emphasizing their historical importance, as well as presenting the Goldbach Conjecture from a historical and theoretical perspective, exposing it as a form of teaching for prime numbers. With this, a bibliographic research was developed based on the content analysis, which sought to observe the influence of the theme for the basic education and to present teaching proposals to approach this theme.
